“What kind of conservation organization applies for a permit to kill threatened species?”
Supporters gathered and lined the street at the zoo entrance to join Friends of Knowland Park and California Native Plant Society on Saturday, April 19 to protest the zoo’s planned expansion into Knowland Park wildland.
A range of speakers expressed their concern for preserving this special park with its amazing natural resources, and for protecting its rare native plants and range of thriving wildlife from habitat destruction. One speaker, a 12-year-old student from Washington Elementary School, spoke about her appreciation of Knowland Park in this video.
Musicians Country Joe McDonald, the duo of Hali Hammer and Randy Berge, and Tyler Yarbrough helped fuel the message of authentic conservation.
The great places that have been saved, from Yosemite down to small bayside parcels, have been saved because lots of ordinary people took a stand and fought to protect them. This is ours – time to take to the street and stand up for what you believe in! Watch our new video!
